Question:

Being homeschooled?

Can I homeschool myself at age 16?

My parents admit they are not smart enough to teach me.

Can I work at my own pace? If so I could do the work for me senior year in a couple of months.

I live in Alabama if that makes a difference.

Can any parent that homeschool answer. Is it recomended?

The main reason I want to do this is to graduate early, get out of this school because it sucks, everyone is so immature, and I want to join the military and get out of alabama as fast as I can.

Also if it matters I am a junior in High School right now.

  1. Yes, you can do it with your parents support.

You can find a world of resources online and as long as you meet the Alabama requirements for homeschooling then you will be fine.

It is a world of fun and enjoyment if you make it that way. There is a great deal of support online as well.

I would say that teaching yourself, you are likely to learn faster and more effectively.

    Good luck!

  2. Homeschooling is not an organization, but you are generally taught by your parents. Each state has its own laws. Just look up Alabama homeschool laws. There are all sorts of ways to be homeschooled. If your parents don't want to homeschool you, what about getting your GED? Or there are a number of online resources for kids who don't want to go to a brick and mortar school and that is considered homeschooling by some.

  3. Homeschooling is an organization.  You just don't stay home and parents teach you.

You have tests from the state, meet regularly with others, contact the district office and see if they have any information on it

  4. You sound motivated, so it should work. The best thing to do would be to contact an Alabama homeschool association and find out the details of getting a diploma through homeschooling in Alabama. Also looking through websites on homeschooling in Alabama would be a good idea. It's really important that you meet the legal requirements for homeschooling in Alabama, so make sure to get that all cleared up before you begin.

Yes, you can work at your own pace. You'd have to find your own resources, however.

  5. Don't do it!

    It's horrible!

    =)
