So i am being induced tomorrow becuase of a preclampsia problem the dr told me. And thinks that its the best choice for right now. Soi am scheduled to be induced tomorrow. I am dialted 2 cm 80% effaced and the baby is at 0 station. Does anyone know how long it will take to be induced? Does it go by faster if you have already progressed? Or is it the same no matter what?

  1. You will most likely have an iv to get your contractions going good and strong, this could take a few hours or longer to have your baby.  Since you are already starting to dialate, I would say that things will move quickly for you, but it is still hard to say.  Every women is different, and these things are difficult to predict. good luck

  2. I was induced my last pregnancy. It felt like it took forever. When they finally broke my water they said oh it will be another 6 hours. I sat up told them I wanted to push because I felt his head they checked me and so a total of thirty minutes after they broke my water my son was born, and on table being weighed, measuered, etc. The worst part about it was that because I was on an IV I could not get up and walk or anything, just had to lay there. It made me ache. Good Luck, it will be fine.

  3. Get off the computer and get Moving, unless you are restricted to bed!

The more you move, the more you progress , the less likely it is that you will need the induction in the morning.

Walk, stretch, go swimming, take a shower, but keep moving.

Induction varies from woman to woman, and the length of time you are on the Pitocin does depend on how long it take you to dilate to 10(pushing).

Good luck! (and happy birthday baby!)

  4. Because you are 80% effaced and at 0 station I think it is going to be okay to be induced.  your cervix only has 20% more to go to be completely thinned out.  AND, you are at "0" station which is good.

As far as the amount of time, no one can say for sure.  Everyone is different.  If it is your first baby, it will take longer than if it were your second baby.

But, regardless if you are 0cm or 2cm....preclampsia is serious and the induction benefits outweigh anything else.  As far as time goes...induction has no effect on time one way or the other.  It all depends on the individual.
