Being on probation in Georgia, are you allowed to homeschool?

you need to ask your probation officer ( they ALL abuse their power) so he/she will probablly tell you NO but, if you don't ask they WILL try to find a reason to revoke you! I don't see a problem homeschooling your own kids but, still ask/tell them ...good luck ALL of the probation officers I have met have HURT more then they have helped which I had thought that they were there to HELP you but, I guess I was wrong .

I don't see why not (although I am neither in Georgia, the US or on probation - not even sure there is such a thing as probation up here, in the cities and towns maybe but in the middle of the bush, I doubt it!).

The law says your parents have to provide you with an adequate and appropriate education; it does NOT say that any kid has to go to school.

I'd imagine the only way you wouldn't be allowed to homeschool was if it were your parents who were on the probation for being shonky parents; if the courts had ordered your parents to do a parenting course etc. Then I could see the courts saying "No, as parents, you're not yet good enough/strong enough to educate your kids yourselves. Stick with the parenting courses and we'll review your parenting skills in 6 months" (or something like that!).

I can't think of any reason why you being on probation should have any relevance to whether or not the state believes your parents are capable of providing you with an adequate and appropriate education at home.
