Being on tag in America?

If you get the chance to be put on tag in America, is it true that you have to pay for every single day that you have to wear it?

A tag is the electronic device attached to your leg that stops you leaving your house between certain times of the day instead of going to prison. We don't pay for it in the U.K., but I saw an American film where he had to pay $9 per day for wearing it-is this true?

an ankle bracelet for house arrest? If it was a movie it was probably just stated for dramatic effect unless it was an informative movie. I have never heard of people paying for a house arrest ankle bracelet but I could be wrong. Maybe it could have just been part of that guys punishment
