  1. A lot of people just run long distances everyday and hope they get heaps faster. Well, the right way to do it is to practice an 800 meter if you normally run 1600. That way, you will actually run faster. Hope I helped! :)

  2. Try and eat bananas. My coach had said that eating bananas gives a lot of potassium. This can help your endurance. If this didn't help I'm sorry.

  3. dunno about that

  4. Once the season starts, there is very little "extra" you can do.  Running more workouts than your teammates will likely burn you out and cause injury.  Thus, you have to focus on what you can do.  That includes:

-Don't skip workouts.  Know the difference between being hurt and being injured.  Being hurt is just that you aren't 100%, being injured means you shouldn't run because it would be bad for you.  Don't skip a workout because you are hurt.  Don't skip practice because you want to go to the mall.

-Run each workout right.  If you are supposed to do your intervals all out, do them all out.  Don't slack off on one because you are tired.

-Improve your diet.  Sub out soda for water.  Eat better.  Cut down on c**p food.  You probably know how your diet is bad better than anyone else.

-Communicate.  Let your parents know what your goals are.  They can help you (whoever makes dinner can help your diet, etc.).  Talk to your coaches.  Let them know that you want to take this seriously.  I have no clue where you are on your team now, but let's say your are 8th.  Your coaches may have your run with the varsity girls or the JV girls in a workout.  If they know you want to be varsity, they will likely have your run with the varsity girls so you can challenge yourself.

Those are the suggestions I have off the top of my head.  Assuming you aren't a senior, start planning ahead for next season as well.  If you don't have a spring sport, do track.  If you don't have a winter sport, do winter training (or indoor track if your school has it).  Train over the summer next year (that is the key for XC success).

    Good luck.

  5. i thik your time is ok. really build up your core and back. having a strong core and back really helps. if you train like you think you are the best on the team that might really help mentally.

  6. I am also a cross country runner and it sounds like you are off to a great start!! I would do some speed work becasue that always will make you faster! Also go to the weight room becasue strong arms make for a great runner!

    Good luck with your season!
