I'm 15 and a guy. I've been vegetarian since January and I follow it pretty strictly and I dont eat any eggs or dairy but if like bread or something has eggs or milk I'll eat it. It seems like I forget stuff alot more and I don't know if maybe I'm not getting enough of a certain vitamin or what? does anyone have any ideas?

  1. No being a vegan is so good for your barin it makes you smart as every thing and you can write really greate notes.

Seriously, though, make sure you get enough iron, protein, and B12. You can get iron and protein from beans, soy, and veggies. You can get B12 from a B complex vitamin.

    Good luck.

  2. Considering that there is even government support of a vegetarian approach to eating/diet - I would follow the first person that posted an answer and go see a doctor.

It could be a sign of a problem that has nothing to do with your diet at all.  Better to be safe than sorry.  Go and talk to a doctor about the problem your having.  It could be a lack of particular vitamins in your diet if it isn't as balanced as you think that it is.

Be safe and get checked out.

  3. If your not eating dairy or eggs you want to make sure your eating stuff that is fortified with B 12 like cereals and soy milk. Brewers Yeast is also a good place to get B12. I'd take a daily multi vitamin too.

It would also be a good idea to see your family doctor, since there could be something going on that's not diet related.

  4. consuming a vegetarian diet (because that's the diet your having), might lead to lack of iron in your diet. this might make you feel weaker and yes it does lead to fatigue and loss or sort term memory. moreover, since you are having a high fibre diet (fruits and veg) you would be inhibiting the calcium and iron absorption. as regards to vitamins  you are having them through the fruits and veg but you still must try to include some TVP or tofu in your diet. if you find that the problem persists, opt for mineral supplements. make sure you do not over consume since supplements might lead to toxicity in the body. it is good that you have that occational food product with eggs or milk. try and eat carbihydrate rich foods such as pasta, because it helps for brain consentration as well.

ps. if it is not for any religious or other believes, i suggest that you eat a variety of foods. you are still developing and your body is in great need for different nutrients.
