This might have already been asked. But pound for pound or head for head who are the most sporting nation in the world? I know The US and China are battling for the honours for most medals. But my guess is that these two countries took around 1.000 athletes each With a combined weight od 180,000lbs per team. So if only 80 of them win a medal (regardless of colour) and Tajikistan take one 180lbs athlete and they walk away with a medal is Tajikistan the better sporting nation? And is there anywhere we can monitor this?

  1. i would say australia

population = roughly ONLY 20 million

USA has 15 (FIFTEEN) times as many people, but they dont win anything close to 15 times as many medals

  2. If you count medals per capita, Australia wins more medal than US, China and Russia all together, but again you can't arrange medal tally that way, or you can collect all results from world championship of different sports and calculate out which country better, but I doubt anyone is able to do that. So comparing olympic medals is probably the best way since everyone is competing for everything at the same time.

  3. Haha, that's a funny point, but no it doesn't work like that.

The u.s. took about 650 athletes, it's actually like 648 or something, and china took about 10 more than that.

But they go by total medals, reguardless of how many athletes there are, because a country like tajikstan has enough people to be able to take 650 olympians, but they wont be as good as the other athletes.
