  1. It is a question of the signal format of the connection you are using.

For example, it could be an aerial connection. Many VHS video players use this format. The VHS received a signal from the aerial, AND also sends a signal out to the TV aerial socket. This is called an RF (radio frequency) connection. This format of connection is what every TV has when connected to an aerial, and the signal carries both sound and pictures.

Now DVD players, don't need an aerial connection, as they do not record from an aerial, and neither do they play out to the TV aerial socket, as better quality is possible. The DVD player can connect to the TV with a lead that has a SCART connector at either end (SCART to SCART) or with a lead that has a SCART connector at one end, and phono plugs at the other, OR maybe just phono plugs at both ends.

In order to select between these different format of connections, your TV may have menu settings or switches that offer choice between: EXT 1 or EXT 2 or RGB.

I wonder if you have ever seen pictures from your DVD on another TV, or if this might be the first time you have tried using the BEKO and the DVD together?

Where do you plug the DVD into the BEKO TV? SCART to SCART or SCART to phono plug? Does the BEKO have a SCART socket?
