Belaetrix Manuputi tames Prajongjai Rawinda in pre quarter-final round – Vietnam Open Update
Women’s Singles shuttler Belaetrix Manuputi smacked Prajongjai Rawinda down and reserved the right to be in the top eight players of the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open GP on August 23, 2012.
The spirited Indonesian campaigner put laudable effort in this 57-minute pre quarter-final tussle and locked the honour with final result of 21-19, 20-22 and 21-15.
Though, Belaetrix displayed fluctuated performance but still she managed to seal a splendid 2-1 victory in the knock out round of this Grand Prix event.
Meanwhile, the opposing shuttler also earned great admiration for showing a tremendous fighting spirit throughout the encounter.
The opening game set the overall tempo of the match as both contenders put all in their possession to gain an immediate advantage in the match score position.
They snapped at each other’s heels all the way to game point situation and neither of them could establish a comfortable lead.
In the first half, Belaetrix launched an intensive campaign and confined her rival in the rear court but then Prajongjai counter-balanced the situation with a couple of uninterrupted rallies.
The Thai campaigner maintained this rhythm until the third quarter of the set but a couple of fatal mistakes weakened her grip in the final stage.
Belaetrix made best out of this fumble and gathered valuable points to register a tight yet decisive figure of 21-19.
Next set started with a couple of gruelling rallies as both female shuttlers were in high spirits to achieve their respective goals.
Prajongjai was striving hard to avoid a straight-set defeat whereas Belaetrix was looking to wrap this tussle in just two games.
In the beginning, the Indonesian player relished full benefits of the first set win and enjoyed the upper hand but she failed to carry this momentum in later part of the game.
On the other hand, Prajongjai showed strong character in the pressure situation and managed to hit the mark with 22-20 margin.
This revised match score position brought life back to the contest as both players were equal with one win each.
However, the decider proved a one-sided affair after the interval as Belaetrix enthralled her challenger with a staggering knock of 21-15.
Now she will have to surpass another Thai shuttler Sapsiree Taerattanachai to gain access to semi-final round of the event.
