Belarus secures Women’s 4x100m Medley title: Day seven – 2011 World Deaf Swimming Championships
Day seven of the 2011 World Deaf Swimming Championships ended with shining performance of Belarus swimmers in Coimbra, Portugal, on Saturday, August 13.
The final session of the meet held the Women’s 4x100m Medley race, in which Belarus’ pair of Maryia Rudzko and Natalia Deeva came out vibrantly and notched the crown by posting an impressive time of 4 minute and 28.36 seconds.
In the corresponding race, Ukraine’s athletes, Valeriia Sytnikova and Iryna Tereshchenko snared the silver medal by submitting a striking time of 4 minutes and 34.40 seconds. United States’ Lauren Mcalpin and Jessica Weeden captured the bronze medal with
a sterling time of 4 minutes and 40.03 seconds. Meanwhile, Russia’s Olga Savina and Alena Kulikova finished fourth in a time of 4 minutes and 47.35 seconds, whereas, Great Britain’s Emily Noden and Lucy Walkup rounded out the top five in a time of 4 minutes
and 57.05 seconds.
Earlier, Ivan Kassin and Ruslan Lebedev of Russia took home the Men’s 4x100m Medley crown of the meet by posting a striking time of 3 minutes and 57.00 seconds. United States’ Scot Matchett and Marcus Titus finished second in a time of 4 minutes and 00.44
seconds, while Ukraine’s Volodymyr Natalchuk and Andriy Zurgalidze earned third place honours in a time of 4 minutes and 01.47 seconds.
Additionally, Eleonora Brykanova of Russia won the Women’s 50m back-stroke crown by posting a fastest time of 31.96 seconds. Meanwhile, Maryia Rudzko of Belarus finished second in a time of 32.02 seconds and Alena Alexeeva of Russian was placed third in
32.34 seconds.
On the other hand, Japan’s Ryutaro Ibara won the Men’s 50m back-stroke title of the meet by posting an impressive time of 27.90 seconds. Ivan Kassin of Russia finished second in a time of 28.02 seconds, while Yoshikazu Kanaji of Japan rounded out the top
three in a time of 28.11 seconds.
Moreover, Rebecca Meyers of United States grabbed the Women’s 400m freestyle crown in a time of 4 minutes and 31.70 seconds. Anna Tovsta of Ukraine snared second in 4 minutes and 36.41 seconds, while Hannah Fitton of Great Britain settled third in a time
of 4 minutes and 39.98 seconds.
