Beldame, the next race track for Blind Luck against Havre de Grace for a seventh time
The last race that Blind Luck ran and also won against Havre de Grace was on 16th July, the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap. Since then, the six-time Grade 1 winner has been on a sort of ‘break’ and has started working out just recently and there has
been no official recording of that as well, since 17th August.
Blind Luck is expected to breeze on 7th September at the Hollywood Park. Even though she has been on the track every day since her last workout, the co-owner and trainer, Jerry Hollendorfer, has reservations with the Del Mar Polytrack since the
horse does not seem comfortable on it, reflecting through her temperament.
Jerry has been reported to have said:
“She didn’t like training at Del Mar, and when a horse doesn’t like something you can’t keep making them do it”.
Jerry has kept his options open to include the $250,000 Lady’s Secret at Santa Anita but is more persistent towards the $350,000 Beldame Invitational in New York.
Both the Grade 1 races are to take place on the same day. The one that would come easier remains to be the choice for Jerry.
A surprising factor to the Beldame is the nomination of Havre de Grace who won in the $750,000 Grade 1 Woodward Stakes on 3rd September.
This will be a magnificent opportunity to see both the fillies together again on the same track.
These are the fillies famous for making their own headlines and establishing pretty fascinating records.
Some of Blind Luck’s credits include the Kentucky Oaks, the Alabama, the Vanity and the Del Cap, while Havre de Grace is not far behind with the Cotillion, the Apple Blossom and the latest addition, the Woodward.
After the Beldame, Blind Luck is all set for her next start from 1st October.
It is evident that Blind Luck does enjoy an edge over Havre de Grace but now both the horses need to enhance their horizons and get onto tapping their actual potential.
All eyes are set not only to see Blind Luck racing after a while but also to see the archrivals together once again.
The race will decide whether this time Havre de Grace has a chance to get an edge over Blind Luck or vice versa.
