Real Madrid 85 - EA7 Emporio Armani Milano 78
Marty Pocius had 11 points, four rebounds and three assists for Real Madrid, who shot 45.8 percent beyond the arc.
Drew Nicholas led EA7 Emporio Armani Milano with a game-high 24 points while Malik Hairston tallied 18 points in the loss. Danilo Gallinari also ended with 12 points and four rebounds on the night.
The game was in balance early on the teams tied the game at 11 midway through the first quarter. However, Emporio outscored the Spaniards 7-3 in the last three minutes and carried a 18-14 lead into the second.
In a tightly contested second quarter, Madrid started to find their feet on the offense and went ahead by 33-31. Emporio Armani however again closed the period on a high and reeled of a 8-3 run to take a 39-36 lead at halftime.
The to and fro action continued in the third quarter, by the end of which Madrid held a one point lead. That continued to be the trend in the last stanza and a 9-4 burst in the last four minutes of the game was what finally enabled
the Spanish giants to seal the game.
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv 70 - Partizan MT: S 66
Maccabi Electra Tel Aviv won their first game in Group C with a 70-66 victory over Partizan MT:S on October 27 at the Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv.
Theo Papaloukas led the winners with 13 points while Jordan Farmar had 11 points, six assists, six rebounds and two steals. Lior Eliyahu and Guy Pnini ended up with 10 points each for Maccabi.
Dragan Milosavljevic and former Maccabi player Milan Macvan led Partizan with 14 points apiece. Acie Law added 12 points and four assist while Nikola Pekovic had 11 points and eight rebounds for Partizan, who dropped to 0-2 in
their group.
Maccabi Electra and Partizan played a very close game until the last two minutes of the first quarter when Maccabi recoded seven unanswered points for a 19-12 after 10 minutes.
Maccabi Electra continued to improve their lead in the second quarter and held a 12-point lead, 41-29, lead at intermission.
Electra then widened their advantage upto 16 points, 49-33, with eight minutes to go in the third quarter. The Serbian champions answered with four consecutive points to cut their deficit back to 12 points, 49-37, but Maccabi reeled
off a 7-0 run for a commendable 56-37 lead. They went into the last quarter with the scores at 56-40 in their favour.
Trailing by 16 points after three, the Partizan made a comeback in the fourth quarter and cut their deficit to seven points, 68-61 late in the stanza. However, Electra had scored one too many in the first 30 minutes and eventually
carved out a four point win.
