Belgian Bill set to stand first in 32red Bunbury Cup (Handicap)
Straight from his pleasant Royal Ascot stint, the George Baker trained bay colt, Belgian Bill, is going to claim a sterling success in the 32red Bunbury Cup (Handicap) that will be held at Newmarket racecourse on Saturday, July 14. The high-voltage action
is scheduled to start at 2:40 (GMT).
On the soft track of 7 furlongs, the four-year-old veteran runner will face 19 rivals with his eye on the prize cheque worth £31,125. For many times in his 16-race career the young and momentous colt has experienced soft grounds, thus, he will be able to
take no time to read the track of Newmarket.
Since the dawn of the calendar year, the son of Exceed And Excel out of g*y Romance has been enjoying good form despite being winless.
On January 12, he elegantly finished as a runner-up in the Etisalat 4G (Handicap) (Turf) over 1 mile and 2 furlongs at Meydan. He again gained a second spot in New William Hill Iphone App Lady Wulfruna Stakes (Listed Race) over 7 furlongs at Wolverhampton.
These two races shoot up his confidence.
Then there came the gorgeous Royal Ascot festival in the month of June. First, the Wickfield Stud And Hartshill Stud-bred colt finished 12th in the 30-runner race entitled as Royal Hunt Cup (Heritage Handicap) over 1 mile and then moved ahead
to notch up 7 position in the 23-runner event of Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap) over 7 furlongs.
These two decent performances have exposed the maverick sprinter’s capabilities well. Now, he can easily claim the ace title of the 32red Bunbury Cup (Handicap) provided he manages to contain Atlantic Sport in the early phase of the race.
The Mick Channon-trained bay horse marvellously finished first against seven rivals in his last start named as Bet365 Handicap, held at Haydock on July 7. Earlier, the experienced runner gained 3rd position in Buckingham Palace Stakes (Handicap)
at Ascot.
Thus, the son of Machiavellian out of Shy Lady has enough potential to give tough time to Belgian Bill. The battle between these two runners will be worth watching. Let us see who carries the day. Good luck to the duo.
