Belgians only, what is the correct way to eat mussels when having moules frites; your two hands are occupied ?

with the mussels so do you eat the fries after or during, while putting down the empty mussel shell

I take the mussels out of the shells and put the shells onto a shell dish before I take a second bite. I clean my fingers.

This frees up my hands to  easily eat!
