Belgium v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Suriname-c3013 – ICC World Cricket League Division Eight (Group B) – Match Update
Half centuries from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 World Cricket League Division Eight match, played at the Faleata Oval No 4 in Apia, today
on September 17.
Belgium won the toss and elected to bat first, and despite the efforts of Suriname’s skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Vishaul-Singh-c95471 (8-0-70-2), and Troy Dudnath (9-1-17-2), managed to post a final total of 283 in a rain-shortened match which allowed each
team 42 overs.
Top order batsmen http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Imtiaz-Sheikh-c64290 Muhammad was sent packing
by Singh in the 24th over, but Aamir Iqbal (14) teamed up with Farmiloe for a 37-run stand, after which Iqbal became Singh’s second victim of the day.
What followed was a mammoth 101-run stand between Farmiloe and Player of the Match Rehman (81), which got the team total up to 224 by the 38th over. Ramjohn swept Rehman off the pitch, and followed it up with the wickets of Farmiloe and wicketkeeper
batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ali-Raza-Berni-c43616 (21) in the 40th over.
By the end of the 42nd overs, with skipper Andre Wagener (24*) and Mahesh Kristamoothr (5*) at the crease, Belgium posted a final total of 283 at the expense of 7 wickets.
The team followed up their batting performance with a fierce bowling attack, featuring effective performances from Rehman, Wagener, Faisal Khaliq, and Shahid Muhammad, all of whom claimed 2 wickets each.
Mohindra Boodram top-scored for his team with 47, and his 56-run partnership with Dudnath (18) proved to be the highlight of his team’s innings. With the exception of both Boodram and Dudnath, Troy Anthony Haley and Vishwar Shaw remained the only other two
batsmen who managed to register double-digit scores, contributing 12 runs each.
The few batsmen who managed to register respectable scores were not able to rescue their team however, and by the 31st over, Belgium managed to reduce Suriname, all out, to 115, clinching a 170-run win.
