Belgium’s Junior Team prepares for bombastic campaign in 2011 Season
The Men’s National Junior Volleyball Team of Belgium is preparing for the upcoming seasonal tournaments.
The team is scheduled to take part in the 2011 CEV Volleyball European League, which is just around the corner. The elite European volleyball competition is set to begin on Saturday, May 28. A total of 12 best teams from the European continent will be on
board to contest their skills of game. Belgium will also be in the hot seat and will be vying for the European Title.
Claudio Gewehr will be in-charge of the Belgian Squad. The head coach has worked out an excellent plan to lead his team to success. The team has undergone extensive training for the competition. They played a friendly match with Netherlands this past Sunday.
The Belgian team showed the intent to grab great success in the upcoming campaign by posting a 3-0 victory over Dutch team.
Speaking about the importance of 2011 CEV World League, the head coach Gewehr said, “The European League is important because via these games we can test some young players and see if they are ready for more demanding competitions. We will miss Jo van Decraen
who underwent a surgery on his shoulder and Franck Depestele, our player of the year here in Belgium, who was recently transferred from Knack Randstad ROESELARE to Russia’s Iskra ODINTSOVO. He needed some rest as he has been playing for some months while suffering
from an injury on his ankle. This will be a good chance for our young setters, Kruyner and Valckiers, to show if they are ready for our senior national team.”
Belgium will open the 2011 CEV World League in Pool ‘A’. Teams from Great Britain, Slovenia, and Croatia will accompany Belgium in the pool fights. Belgium is set to take on Slovenia in the opening match on Saturday.
Besides the European Campaign, the National Junior Team of Belgium is also confirmed for the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship. Belgium has recently qualified for the international event, which is supposed to take place in Brazil from August 1-10.
In the long run, Belgium is also getting ready for the 2011 EuroVolley, which is coming in the month of September. Hence, Belgium has got a lot to do. Gewehr is working hard to prepare his team for the upcoming tough competitions. Currently, the team is enjoying
a good form and players seem determined to bring honour to their country.
Lets’ see how do they do justice to their ambitions.
