The Evian TG man feels that the Montpellier Herault star should have been more smarter before starting an altercation with the player
Younes Belhanda will miss the last three games of the Championnat for Montpellier Herault after his expulsion in the side’s 2-2 draw against Evian TG. The young midfielder was involved in an altercation with Evian player Cedric Mongongu.
The referee had no option but to send off both players including two more players. The game ended in a 2-2 draw and if the result does not jeopardise the club’s hopes to win the Championelle, their playmaker’s suspension could play a big role in who wins
the title.
As things stand, Paris Saint-Germain trail the league leaders by just three points and have seemingly easy games left to play.
Montpellier on the other hand, will play the likes of Stade Rennais, LOSC Lille and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AJ-Auxerre-c38247 in their last three games which means that getting nine points from these games could prove to be a tough ask especially without the presence of Belhanda who has
carried the playmaking burden on his shoulders throughout the campaign.
Many people have criticised Mongongu for planning the expulsion of the midfielder. However, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Congo-c2875 international says that the altercation was never premeditated and added that Belhanda should have been smarter because he knew what was at stake.
“My interest is what? At that time, the match was over and I did not need to get a red card. We had nothing to play for but he (Belhanda) was playing for the title. It is a mistake on his part. He should have been smarter. I was taking off my strap in my
hand and threw it in front of the referee. Belhanda asked the referee to give me red for it and it angered me.”
Annoyed at the youngster’s reaction, Mongongu chose to slap Belhanda and the Moroccan also came to blows with the player.
However, Mongongu says that he wishes Montpellier the best of luck and hopes that they eventually win the title and do not pay dearly for Belhanda’s exploits.
Certainly, Belhanda did a foolish thing by getting so easily winded up by the Evian player.
