The Moroccan international wants to stay with the new French champions and play Champions League football for them but still has reservations about the team’s ambitions
While talking to reporters before the coronation of Montpellier Herault as the new Ligue 1 champions, star midfielder Younes Belhanda said that he wants to stay with La Paillade as playing Champions League for his club would be an extraordinary thing for
him.
However, the youngster still has some reservations about this. While talking to RMC, Belhanda said that though he wants to play UCL with Montpellier, he needs to have assurances about the club’s ambitions in the transfer market.
The likes of Olivier Giroud and defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa, who played a big role in the title success, are reportedly linked with moves away from the Mosson this summer and Belhanda wants to know if the club will be looking to find perfect replacements
for players who leave.
“If Mapou and Olivier leave, it is necessary that the club brings players for playing in the Champions League. For now, I do not know about it and this makes me a little scared. It is important for the club to bring players to play in Ligue 1 and for playing
in UCL. On this point, I still have heard any news from Montpellier.”
Certainly, the Moroccan international’s statements put a little pressure on the club.
As long as Montpellier don’t give the player guarantees, they will remain under the threat of his departure.
The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are really keen on signing Belhanda so whether Montpellier go big this summer or not, the Moroccan will have plenty of suitors available who can offer him regular Champions League football.
Belhanda has been contacted by clubs in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 which means that Louis Nicollin and co should be looking to find replacements for every player who leaves the club this summer.
Montpellier will certainly be looking to start the next campaign on a strong note and will need squad depth in order to compete in Ligue 1, Coupe de la Ligue, Coupe de http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 and Champions League.
