Belichick forgets NFL loss, happy with performance at Pebble Beach
Bill Belichick was happy to make the cut while partnering with the American golfer Ricky Barnes at AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-am.
Another attractive factor for him to be in California was playing against Nick Saban, Head Coach of the University of Alabama's Crimson Tide football team.
He enjoyed playing golf and having National Football League stars on the course on the same day.
To compete against the NFL players and coach on a football stadium is attractive, whereas Belichick also felt good to compete against them on a golf course.
“It’s awesome,” Belichick said. “It’s great to spend time with Nick and the pros here. Just to be out here at Pebble Beach”.
Being happy on the course, while losing at Super Bowl two weeks before, was not expected from him. Pats lost the football game while playing against the Giants.
He showed his anger and emotions after that loss but was happy about his golf victory. It seemed a little disappointing that he did not mourne the Super Bowl loss.
“It’s been tough,” Belichick said. “It’s a tough couple days, but Pebble Beach is a great spot to take your mind off some of the troubles we had”.
However, this happiness might be to show some sportsman spirit. Like NFL, golf is not easy to play. Making a cut and finishing on the third position is the appealing part for him.
He can focus to win at Super Bowl next year. That is the main reason why he was not thinking about his big NFL loss at Pebble Beach Golf Links.
On the other hand, this course was also helpful for him to forget all his sorrows.
His partner Barnes scored a 13-under par and 273 strokes in total. He displayed an amazing performance and finished third. Scoring 18 birdies and 49 pars was impressive.
He was also successful to save his strokes most of the time. He only lost five times and hit a few bogeys.
Belichick's appearance and presence on the golf course helped him. The Pats coach also assisted and kept him motivated throughout the four-day tournament.
The combination of NFL and golf stars ends here. The offseason NFL matches are about to start soon. Belichick and all the other players will move back for their game to secure victories.
