I kinda agree with i trip. It is poor.  If you hide behind your nice resort-all is good.  It is a popular place for honeymooners but -theres such nicer places to go

I love Jamaica ya they bug u no diff then mexico but jamaica is sooo beautiful it outweighs the pore people askin for money

Belize rocks!  I went there with my best friend a few years ago.  We stayed in 2 places, in St. Igancio and on Caye Caulker.

Caye Caulker is an amazing little laid back island, many of the buildings have sand floors and you can eat all meals in your swimsuit if you want  :-)  There are guided snorkle and dive trips that leave from the Caye.  You can even do a "swim with the sharks" thing... they are just little nurse sharks and they like to swim up and roll over so you can rub their tummies.  It was so cool.

Some people choose Ambergis Caye for the island thing, but it is a little more commercialized than Caye Caulker.

St. Ignacio however, was my favorite few days of the trip.  There are amazing Mayan ruins nearby to see.  We stayed at the Maya Mountain Lodge.  They were able to arrange day trips for us from canoing down the Macal River, to go swim at the Blue Hole National Park (different than the blue hole dive area in the ocean).  They arranged transportation for us, so we didn't even need to rent a car.

The food was AWESOME everywhere we went, and we didn't have to be too careful about what we ate (like you might have to in Mexico), just watched the water when in public places (bought bottled).

All the people were so friendly too, we had people we met there invite us into their homes.  I would go back in a second.

It is a very beautiful and romantic place, ideal for your honeymoon!

Edit:  As for itrip's comments, there are poor places in every city and every country, it just depends on where you go, and I have no idea where the cruise ship took them.  Personally, I found Jamaica distasteful for all the people trying to sell us drugs.

I was only there for one day for a cruise stop --it was sooo poor.  I went zip linin and the bus ride was quite long so we got to see alot of the country and it just made me sad.  If you can go somewhere else.  I just booked a really cheap trip to Jamaica on this site called redhotescapes dominican is really cheap and punta cana has beautiful white sand beaches or go on a cruise its more expensive and you can stop there for a day but its your honeymoon and theres sooo many other places that are great.  i would go to fantasy island in roatan before belize.  go to the above site and read reviews on other places if money isnt a problem check out excellence punta cana the top honeymoon resorts are
