I recently purchased a Belkin N Router which is supposed to allow wireless devices to connect to the Internet.

It is connected to a modem that is hooked up to my computer. My laptop that connects wirelessly gets signal, and my other computer which has the Belkin N USB Adapter can connect too.

But when I try and connect with my PSP or PS3, I am told that there are no access points detected, even when I use these video games right next to the router.

Is there something wrong with my router, PSP, PS3? I have the CD for the Wireless Router setup. Is there anything I can do to have my PSP and PS3 access the Internet

  1. i have the same router and my psp wouldnt connect either u have 2 go into the router programing its self and unlock the signal so anyone can pick it it but then u have a chance of someone riding on ur internet

  2. Go to the routers I.P address(e.g. http://192.168.2.1/) then click on the link that reads " Use as an access point" It Should Work From there.

  3. Log in to the Belkin and BE SURE that you are not set to use N only!!!!!!

There is a setting that allows b/g/or n   it also allows N only or b/g only.  you need to set that to use compatibility mode or you won't connect with your PSP unit!

Do understand once you connect your PSP you will loose all of the N advantages as the unit will default to 54mbs. (sorry, thats just the way it works!)

  4. Did you make sure that your PSP and PS3 is compatible with an N-type router? Because Im pretty sure they are compatible with 802.11 b/g only. N-types are new because of their stronger signal that can reach a good distance but you need a compatible device. The link below shows the the N-type wi-fi is still in its process stages because its not compatible with every wireless device. I recommend checking your manuals for both consoles. I am pretty sure that both use 802.11g/b (802.11g / 802.11b). If you go buy another wireless router make sure you look for G because that is most commonly used.

D-Link, Netgear, Linksys are good brand names.
