Belkin cord?

i need help with my belkin outlet cord. It has a light on in protected which is good but also a red light is on under not grounded. What does this mean?

  1. It probably means that the outlet you have it plugged into has no ground connection.  You might try it in another outlet to see if that changes.  Surge protectors only give full protection when they are connected to a grounded outlet.  If the outlet you are plugging it into is a 3 prong outlet, then by electrical code the ground should be working.  Another way to check it is to buy a cheap outlet tester at a home store and check it yourself:

    If the outlet is not grounded, you may need to call an electrician.
