Belkin wireless router model 7633

Question

I have a desktop running windows XP and a laptop running Vista Home Premium.  I have purchased a Belkin 7633 and after some difficulty connect to the internet via my desktop.  I cannot at the moment access the internet with Outlook Express to get my emails.My main problem though is my laptop I am being told that I am connected to the internet but cannot actually do this, it is saying that it is connecting but nothing happens.  I feel that there is nothing too badly wrong but I am just not able to solve this problemI would be so grateful for some help.  I am an enthusiastic computer user but not a terribly experienced onethanksJennifer
