  1. first things first.  is the internet light on the router staying solid or blinking rhythmically?  solid is good, blinking is not.  if it is blinking it's possibly a physical connection error.  make sure all wires are plugged in correctly (i know it sounds basic but i've messed this up before just like many others).  my belkin has a reset button you can push and hold for 7 seconds and it will reset the router to factory settings.  if you're still getting the blinking light after checking the connections, try this and see what happens.

make sure your computer (laptop) has the wireless router as a network connection.  go to start> settings> network connections.  if your wireless card is there (it should say something like "wireless network connection" or similar), make sure that it is set up properly by going to start> settings> network connections> right click on the connection>  go to properties> select tcp/ip (internet protocol) and hit properties right below that.  if you see numbers there write them down for both the ip address and the dns numbers directly below.  tick the "obtain ip address automatically" and "obtain dns server address automatically".  reboot.

    hopefully that helps.  good luck.

  3. Could be a number of issues:

If you are on cable and did not really have to configure the wireless router, I would reset your router (should be a small pin hole somewhere on back or bottom, usually held about 10 seconds) and see if you can get back online.

If you are on dsl that requires a username and password for pppoe authentication, you need to find out if your dsl modem or now your router make that login. If you dsl modem does, reset your router (like above).  Otherwise, there is something going on with the laptop wireless drivers, make sure the drivers are installed for it. You can try going into your Network Connections and right click the wireless adapter and disable and then re-enable it (XP) or right click and run a Diagnostic on it (Vista).

  4. i have the same problrm just hold the reset button on the back for 10 seconds the lghts shud flash and it shud work

  5. Assume you have wireless capable laptop.  If not, buy a wireless adapter for the laptop.  Install drivers that comes with adapter.  Enjoy!

  6. 10 to 1 changing your channel will help

the default wireless channel is channel 6

interference can drift in out of the blue from far away

You will not see the interference but your network card  will bounce between the two signals and not get a fix

you will have good signal strength from your wireless router but no internet

answer - change the channel from the default channel 6 to anything else

channels 1 and 11 are first picks

You may have to change the channels from time to time as well - if intruder /s  are set to automatic channel change

change the ssid as well - even if to add a digit

next make sure router is high and uncluttered - like not under a metal table in the basement

a program called  network magic is very useful

make sure the wireless of the router is set to mixed ( b and g ) to begin

You might want to try unencrypted and then go from there
