Bell Challenge women's tennis championship: Latest Update from Quebec
The Iranian French tennis player Aravane Rezai has been crashed out in the first round of the WTA Tour Bell Challenge by Jill Craybas in a total of three sets. The final match score was 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3).
In another action, the top-seeded tennis contender Marion Bartoli from France, Lucie Safarova from Czech Republic and the fifth-seeded player from the United States of America, Melanie Oudin won their respective clashes in straight sets.
Jill, an American tennis player did well to oust the most prominent casualty at the Bell Challenge in Quebec. The American grabbed the opening set 6-3, however, her French tennis foe, took no time to level the scores in the following set.
The decisive set of the first round match of the Bell Challenge went to a tie-break, later on allowing Jill, who is ranked number 123 in the world by the Association of tennis professionals, win in the end. The match concluded after a time period of two hours and ten minutes.
The fourth-seeded tennis ace Barbora Zahlavova Strycov was also kicked out in a three-setter clash with Valerie Tetreault.
The Canadian claimed 6-3 3-6 6-2 victory versus a foe who is ranked 128 positions above her.
The top-seeded Marion Bartoli, however, did well to win her opening round match of the Bell Challenge 2010 after getting the better of Stephanie Foretz Gacon in a total of two sets. The final match score was 6-1 6-1.
Marion who is ranked number fourteen in the world, dominated her opponent right from the start of the match and concluded it within an hour.
The third-seeded Lucie Safarova also advanced with a straight set win over Varvara Lepchenko.
The world number twenty eight, Lucie didn’t look comfortable while claiming a 7-5 6-3 victory against Varvara. The match concluded in a time period of one hour and forty minutes.
There were also victories for the seeded fifth Melanie Oudin, Tamira Paszek, Alexa Glatch, Bethanie Mattek-Sands as well as Mirjana Lucic.
The Canadian tennis ace, Stephanie Dubois also recorded an upset win in the opening round of the Bell Challenge women's tennis championship after outlasting her seventh-seeded opponent Olga Govortsova from Belarus.
