Bella's personality?

OK, I swear, I AM a Twilight Fan, OK? I am asking this question out of curiosity and I know it has probably been asked a million times before but I want to give people 2 points! OK!

Anywho, in Twilight, what is Bella's personality? I mean, she's just clumsy and loves Edward Cullen and reads a little...

Except for that...no taste in sports...no dreams, no goals, no hobbies or desires (except Edward)...I mean, that's just a massive gap in the story...I DO LIKE TWILIGHT! But...you know...does anyone agree with me on this one?

  1. Since you've stated your position on Twilight, I'll state mine. I don't like Twilight.

And Bella is very monotonous. She *has* no personality. There's nothing anyone would say that would make you think, "Hey, that's soemthing Bella would say!" I mean, if someone tripped and fell, you'd think, "Hey, Bella would do that!" but, then, that's not saying much. That's not a part of personality, and there are plenty of clumsy characters out there, as well as people.

So. You've just realized that Bella has no personality. Congratulations. You're on your way to the Dark Side. You might not think so, but you are....

Edit: YES IT'S WORKING. Ha. I honestly can't believe people think it's the next Harry Potter. Twilight is just a phase. But Harry Potter isn't.

  2. I guess before she met Edward, her life was pretty average and maybe if she hadn't met him, she might have developed some hobbies, reading is sorta life a hobby; but she said herself that most hobbies require some hand-eye coordination and she doesn't have any = clumsy.

But in her personality, Bella has a good heart and intentions, she has a strong will despite her body having limits and she is a bookworm.  Plus sometimes love is all you need in life to be happy no matter what you've done before (Mulan Rouge much)

  3. I think everyone wants a little bella in them, or a little of bella's life! I think for the purpose of the book she doesn't really have any goals or anything like that. I also think that bella is a bit extreme in the sense that her life does revolve around one man. It was also stupid that she didnt really care about her education. But with all bella's faults i still love her to peices!!! Sorry if this doesnt help!!

  4. Her personality is.........

She doesn't have one! Easy question.

  5. I am in the same position as you are.  Bella isn't much of a character.  YOu read other books about the heroine of the story and you think "I want to be like that" but Bella isn't that kind of person.  SHe's just a lovesick girl who has nothing interesting about her.  I guess that's what SM was trying to emphasize; that there's nothing special about her and yet special things happen to her.  It's starting to get really annoying and she really doesn't deserve all this hype about her.  Twilight has NOTHING on Harry Potter.  Grand Piano is right.  Twilight is just a phase.  It will be a long one, though, since Stephenie Meyer is still writing.   Ugh.  I really do like the books, and I actually got a bit obsessed with them for a while, but I have see the error in my ways.  Twilight is okay, sort of entertaining, slightly nauseating at times, but other than that, I like them.

  6. She is willing to do whatever it takes to protect people, even if she doesn't know them too well, like in Eclipse...

She is a kind hearted person and her redeeming quality is her sense of mind. You don't need to be talented at outside things.

Her love is what makes her different.

But really, in Wuthering heights, there is really nothing special about Cathy. She is one of he most boring characters I have ever read about, but the love she possess makes her character different, which is like Bella.

EDIT - I do like Bella, but after what she did to Jacob and Edward, I find it hard to sympathize with her. She was greedy and wanted them both, and only ended up hurting them both in return. She had the most perfect guy. Her soul mate and still that wasn't enough. And when she mentioned how jealous she thought she may be if Jake imprinted, well, think how much that must have hurt Edward. He was nothing but supportive of her being friends with Jacob in the end and she ended up hurting him. Again.

  7. well i think im a lot like bella...

    im shyish

    and timid

but im sarcastic and funny when i open my mouth

i just see so many things in common between me and her...

i think i'll find an edward soon too =]]

  8. You guys are nuts!!! She is awsome! You guys are odd!

  9. Yep.

    She's whiny, clumsy, and lovesick.

    That's all.

I hate how her life revolves around a single man. It's horrible!

What makes me even SICKER is how people on YahooAnswers have their names set to Bella, or Mrs. Cullen. I mean really, who wants to be her? Someone with NO life outside of a boy.

  10. Bella does have a personality! I mean she is not a mean person! she is very sacrificial! she will do anything to make sure someone else is happy! i mean thats why she cant seem to dump jacob! And she maybe clumsy but i mean thats what makes her up too! I love bella and she has lots of personalities and thats why so many people can relate too her!

I LOVE TWILIGHT!!!! LOL! I JUST WANTED TO ADD THIS AND I CANT WAIT FOR THE MOVIE!!!!!!

    NOVEMBER 21ST BABYYYYYYY!!!!!!WHAOOOOHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

haha sorry! i get over excited!

  11. Wait..so are you asking for her personality or her hobbies? Just because she doesn't like sports doesn't mean she doesn't have personality.

    - She's definetly strong. I know, I know but before you stop reading my answer think about it first. Look at the situations she gets in in the books. She pulls through all of them and manages to remain sane.

    - She's responsible and grown-up for her age(an "old soul"). She doesn't whine about school like a lot of teenagers do. She does the house work with no complains because she understands Charlie(or Renee) needs her help.

-Bella's definetly very unmaterialistic(is that even a word??) as there was never a point in the series where she wished her parents had more money so she could have a better house or have a better CD player or something like that.

-Oh! And a very obvious one! She's shy and self-conscious!

-*SPOILERS*Umm...though I like Bella(if you haven't already noticed.....I'm probably the only person in the planet who does....)I thought it was very selfish of her to keep the baby when Edward was suffering so much to see it kill her. But then again, that can be translated into positiveness. It's a similar position to when she and Edwrad were first getting together, and when she was trying to get him to sleep with her. That all happened because she was being positive.

Ummmm....yeah.... I'm not very good with words so there's a high chance that I did not make my point clear and that you didn't understand anything you just read. There's also a high chance you're rolling on the floor with laughter....

But, what I'm trying to say is that we had 3 books and a half written in her point of view. If you look closer you will be able to see the character's personalities well. You just need to think about it in a less "I-hate-Bella-because-she-is soooo-whiny-and-stupid" way.

  12. She's modest, sweet, self-depracating, passionate, worrying, and chivalrous.

I agree that her personality isn't the best, but she does have some sharp points that cause her to be spectacular.

  13. Yeah "I Want A grand Piano" is right, you are in the way of the dark side... Muaajajajaja (sinister laugh) Well This is one of the points for what I hate with passion Bella's character, I mean I don't like the books even, but Edward seems for me a little more realistic, like he has a problem with anger and sometimes (almost all the time) is overprotective, but he has goals, he likes to drive fast, he likes the music bla bla, But Bella is plain, she has no dreams, her world is only Edward, she lives to be loved and love Edward, we even don't know if she had friends before Forks!, we don't know nothing about her!, Yeah she likes to cook for her dad, Edward hawtness and read sometimes... BIG deal Bella... And Twilight the next HP?... Yeah... In the fourth dimension maybe... and I'm really happy to meet a TwiFan that actually see the flaws in Bella's character, have a nice day :D

    ---------------------------

    Yay it's working!! Mwajajjaja

  14. I totally agree with you, I have noticed exactly that while reading. It seems like she is just a lonely girl who doesn't know what she wants to be or who she is, and just happens to fall in love w/ edward but in that relationship is still whiny and clumsy, and pretty helpless. I love the story/book though, but when you think back on it you cant help but to wonder about bella's character

  15. I agree, i don't see why anyone would love Bella because she is made to sound like the average girl but she isn't. the average girl has interests and hobbies and other friends and other interests but not Bella. I don't really like her as a person and if i could be anyone then i'd be Alice because she has the love of her eternity and she has a personality.

  16. Wow. No personality?

Breaking Dawn just proved how strong of an individual she is. She saved everyone in that book, for the sole purpose of protecting everyone! She did it for her child! For her husband! For her friends!

While I agree that she was a typical teenager in love at the beginning of the series, it's not like she didn't' develop into a better person!

She's also hilarious, she's always cracking jokes

stubborn, I mean, those were the reasons why Edward was always fighting with her

and she's a free soul, she ran off to see Jacob even when Edward told her not to

  17. What personality? She exists merely to love and be loved for no apparent reason. She has no likes/dislikes outside of the limited scope that overlaps her boyfriend.

It's a nice touch that she relinquishes her collegiate ambitions almost immediately for the opportunity to spend time with her boyfriend, and drops everything at a moment's notice whenever he's in perceived peril.

And I did love Twilight. I just don't particularly care for Bella.
