Bella Ophelia likely to prevail in Racecourse.co.uk Handicap
Bella Ophelia looks set to complete a hat-trick of race victories at Southwell, as she is the bookmakers’ favourite for the Southwell-Racecourse.co.uk Handicap in England on Thursday, March 1, 2012. The winning runner will bag a cash prize of £2,264.
The class-5 event, which has a distance of five furlong, has attracted seven entries and they are: Bella Ophelia, Reve Du Jour, Code Six, Scrooby Doo, Chester’slittlegem, Dawn Lightning and Chapellerie.
Out of the above mentioned runners, the best odds of winning are with Bella Ophelia. She has entered four races in her career so far, winning a couple of them. She was unable to make an impression in her first couple of outings, but followed that by back
to back victories at Southwell.
Hughie Morrison, trained of the three-year-old filly, will be hoping of another strong show today. The punters will also be expecting her to deliver a dominant performance, as she has been doing recently.
The favourite filly will be partnered by jockey, Jimmy Fortune, who has gained quite a lot of experience at this level. He has got a decent strike rate and will be looking forward to displaying an emphatic show.
Another runner, who has been doing well in recent times is, Reve Du Jour. Although she has managed to win just one race out of 10 outings, her last couple of performances have been quite impressive.
The three-year-old filly will attract some bettors to invest money on her, as she is in good form these days. Alan McCabe’s trained runner will be partnered by young rider, Sean Levey, who has got a few victories to his name at this level.
Code Six, trained by Bryan Smart, is also fully capable of delivering a winning performance. She has taken just four starts in her career until now, but has shown plenty of promise in all his outings.
There was only one occasion, where the three-year-old filly failed to make it to the top three, which shows her level of consistency. She will be ridden by seasoned campaigner, Paul Mulrennan, who is quite capable of winning races.
Other than the top three favourites, Scrooby Doo also looks in good rhythm and will be the one to watch out for today. The rest of the runners are expected to have a hard time.
