However, after being named by the GB manager, Stuart Pearce in the football squad for the coveted games, the winger unravelled his delight over getting the opportunity to feature in the prestigious event. He mentioned that he was not experiencing any fitness
problems ahead of the tournament, and has not felt fitter ever before in his career.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I am probably physically in the best shape I have been involved in…Coming into this has come at the right time and I feel the most balanced and fit have been for quite a few years.”
He also caste light onto the fact that even though he was not used to playing two games a week at Liverpool, he used to do it quite often at Cardiff City during his season long loan spell with the Championship outfit.

29th and on the 1st of August respectively.
On the subject of attending the opening ceremony which is scheduled to take place on 27th, Bellamy admitted that he was in a state of confusion whether to attend it or not, keeping in viewing their packed timetable.
“I will have to see how I feel after the Senegal game. I have to be conscious there is a game a couple of days later, so if I feel a little bit worse for wear I won't be going.”
