  1. no !!!! definatly not it is a very close community and a lot of gypsys live in the area too there is a lot of petty crime /car theft /burglaries they inter breed within the community ...my sister used to live in this area a few years ago she hated it ......hope this helps have you thought of morley/pudsey tingley they may be better for relocation as all have good accses to city and moterways etc

  2. No, the other answer is wrong. Not once have I seen gypsies in Leeds, though travelling folk may be in the area. When I lived in Leeds (four years ago) I saw aload of tree logs strategically placed to stop large vehicles entering premises. Personally I'd live lower down near the two cemetaries on the Hunslet/Belle Isle border ... you say you live in Manchester - I'd have thought it a better place to live (bar Mosside) - I know I'd live there if I had oppurtunity/ I used to live between them and the motorway ... rather quite neigbour hood considering we were on the end house next to a motorway, I now live in the neighbouring city, Bradford.

You've got the local Morrisons down the hill (walking distance from my old house around 15 minutes) You've got Asda in Pudsey - forgot how to get to it from South Leeds, Sainsbury's is in White Rose Shopping Centre. You've got (if this applies) schools which serve the area, Hunslet Carr (on of the best schools I've ever been), Hunslet C of E (next to the Church adjacent to Morrisons - under or over the bridge of the motorway). You then have (up the hill) Merlyn Rees, or what ever they call it now, it chaged its name - actually when I left they were gonna knock it down so not sure, pretty rough school now having seen local news of riots in the past fiew years.if indeed this does apply to you check local OFSTED inspection reports .

If you go on to the motorway you've got Bradford and Elland Rd (Leeds Utd.'s stadium) go the other way on the motorway (getting on it from the roundabout near Dewsbury Rd.) takes you to Castleford, Dewsbury (I think). Oh one mention of Leeds Utd. when I lived there and when they were in the Premiership Saturdays and other matchdays are slow due to crowd and police prescence, so expect delays ... my advice = avoid the area unless you're attending.

Belle Isle isn't as bad as Mosside. No - that title is reserved for the area of Chapel town. Avoid at all costs, and if you need to go there  wear body armour.

You're one bus ride from the town centre ... been a while since I took it, the route number is the number 12 (or was atleast for me) - wymetro.com and click journey planner ... type your postcode then type LS1 (town's postcode or any other destination) and it will find you -- you also have the option to alter the route.

Going the opposite direction you've got White Rose, the best shopping centre in Leeds other than town's put together (think of it as a smaler Trafford Centre). The only pub I can think of is the Parnaby Tavern, the other side of the Motorway, atleast if you do get a little worse for wear and manage to get back over the motorway bridge you can sleep the night in the cemmy.

    Transport: Train station: Leeds Central

Belle Isle house prices are alot cheaper in comparison with Leeds City Centre ... so that's where you're best if you can't afford it. Leeds has a vibrant night life with pubs and clubs in the city centre. Eating out is expensive too - so take plenty of money or a lunch box.

I wish you a sucessfully happy life in your new home.
