The very first race on an oval track held on the 24th of July 1926, in Britain, was organized in Belle Vue Stadium, which became a major reason behind its fame.

The stadium consists of restaurants, bars, luxury glass fronted grandstand and hospitality boxes.
Charles A Munn an American businessman, joined with Smith and Sawyer by signing a deal in 1925, for the promotion of the greyhound racing in Britain.
Major L. Lyne Dixson a renowned figure in the field of sports was the first person, whom Charles contacted for making Greyhound racing known in Britain. Major got impressed with Charles ideas and agreed on putting effort, for the revival of the sport.
In 1926, they found more people who joined them up for the same mission, during this time they came across Brigadier General Alfred Critchley, who introduced them to Sir William Gentle JP.
During this period, they were successful in creating Greyhound Racing Association Ltd, which was made by the £22,000 they raised.
While deciding the place where the stadium had to be opened, Manchester was the first option, due to the fact that, it has amazing gambling and sporting links.
The stadium was named as Belle Vue and the first race at oval track was held there and over 1,700 spectators attended this event.
Mistley was the first greyhound who gave a hit by covering the distance of 440 yards.
In the beginning six races were organized, each race consisted of seven dogs competing for the purse, later on in 1928 when NGRC came into being six dogs were allocated per race.
During the first event, 1,700 spectators forced themselves to pass through the baffle gate, this caused £50 loss for the GRA. In the next event 16,000 crowed passed through the turnstile, greyhound racing had become the best time pass for the British people.
Gradually the company repaid the loan they took from the bank, and now the stadium is running successfully with daily increase in the profit.
After 1927 in June the stadium welcomed 70,000 spectators, which was a big proof of the stadium’s success and owner’s hard work, now greyhound racing is considered to be one of the prestigious events.
