Belle of the Hall prepares for her next start, Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint
Fresh off a victory in the seven furlong Valor Lady Stakes at Belmont Park, West Point Thoroughbreds owned, Belle of the Hall, is ready for some serious business, as announced by the partnership group on 23 October, the 5-year-old mare will make her next
start in the Grade 1, $1 million Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint on 3 November at Santa Anita.
The Thomas Albertrani trained mare is exiting a narrow victory in the Valor Lady Stakes on 3 October, 2012, when she defeated, Agave Kiss to down her first victory in six starts, and second of the season, as she covered the seven furlong distance in 1 minute
and 23.55 seconds. Catinatree finished third on the day.
"This mare looks and trains as good as ever," Albertrani said. "She's been within two lengths of some of the division leaders this year. There should be a ton of speed in the race, and things could set up very well for her."
Bred in Florida by Leon Edward Do Little Farm, Belle of the Hall, prior to her, Valor Lady Stakes victory, finished fourth in three consecutive graded stakes races, starting from the Grade 2 Vagrancy Handicap at Belmont Park, Grade 2 Honorable Miss Stakes
at Saratoga and then in her penultimate race thus far, the Grade 1 Ballerina Stakes to winner, Turbulent Descent.
The daughter of Graeme Hall has gone on to land six career starts, and out of those two came this season, as she started off her 5-year-old campaign with a victory in an allowance optional claimer over six and one-half furlongs at Gulfstream Park.
"After the Valor Lady, Tom and I looked at all options," said West Point president Terry Finley. "This mare is in a good form cycle right now and deserves a shot in the big dance. We met with the partners to talk about the decision, and they're very, very
excited.”
Belle of the Hall turned in half mile at Belmont Park ahead of the Filly and Mare Sprint, and covered the distance in 49.71 seconds at Belmont Park, and she is expected to fly to California on 30 October.
