Bellevue teachers strike???

Question

I just heard about the teachers strike in Bellevue and I had a few questions:

What are the odds that summer will be extended due to the teachers strike going on?

If the strike does lead to an extended summer, how much more summer would students in bellevue get?

Does the bellevue teachers strike reach out to EVERY school in the bellevue school district or just some of them?

1) We (teachers) are hoping there is no strike. However, at this point it looks like a definite possibility. There is a school board meeting Wednesday night so we should know more by then.

2) A strike could last one day or several or weeks. There is no way of knowing ahead of time.

3) This would impact every school in Bellevue.

The main focus right now is the curriculum web and the district's insistence that teachers use daily scripted lessons. This takes away a teacher's professional judgment and ability to tailor his or her lessons for each unique group of students. I wouldn't want my own kids taught this way and I sure don't like teaching this way.
