  1. Don't use alcohol!  Use hydrogen peroxide.  I'm assuming you have a piercing.  Just keep it clean with the HP and put a bandage and neosporon on it.  If it doesn't go away in a couple days of cleaning it, go to a doctor!

  2. do not use alcohol or neosporin because it can make your piercing close up, just clean it with anti-bacterial soap and it should stop hurting

  3. i cleaned my navel piercing with salt and water... you heat up water up to a boil[ about half a cup] ..then you put half a spoon of salt..wait for it to cool down so it wont burn you..the lie your back and place the cup facing you belly for 6 minutes....hope that helps =]

  4. you shouldn't have used the alcohol, its way too harsh for the piercing, you should only be using a sea salt soak 2-3 times a day, forget the neosporin as well, if you use too many different theings to clean it, it will get irritated, the crusting is normal, it just trying to heal thats all

  5. not sure if its infected, but you shouldnt use alcohol or neosporin, it is way too strong and can dry your skin. just simply use antibacterial soap or saline solution! keep doing what youre doing =] and dhow long have you had your piercing? if its new its okay .

  6. NO ALCOHOL!!!! alcohol worsens it...use warm water and salt twice a day...trust me..my dad is a professional piercer

  7. You probably scraped the Q-tip in it too hard. This is very easy to do, especially if you use the Q-tip dry, and that caused irritation that has now escalated into an infection.

You may also have had an abscess of skin (a previous infection that covered up on its own that you may have never even known about) or a benign cyst that you opened up. It's fairly common actually. Happens to me at least once a year.

Try lying or leaning to where your belly button is straight up and level and dropping hydrogen peroxide (it will sting) into it. Allow the peroxide to bubble up and blot it as it starts to come out. Do this at least twice and continue to do it for at least a couple of days.

Also, be sure to wash around the area as often as needed - if the crusty yellow stuff keeps coming back. That may be a sign of infection but it's good too because it means it's starting to work its way out.

Neosporin won't hurt it but it won't really help either. Or it never did for me at least.

Take pain relievers to alleviate some of the pain and try to not exercise vigorously or even eat too much as both of those will put pressure on that area.

If it gets worse, if the pain travels to more than just along the area where your belly button is, you should see a doctor and definitely mention this to a general one if you see one any time soon.

You can also use a heating pad, on medium to low, to alleviate the pain. Don't lie on it. Just put it under your pants for some relief.
