I really want to get my belly button done and me parents say I'm allowed as soon as I'm fully recovered from recently having glandular fever. I'm 15, and a few of my friends have it done. My only concern is that apparently when u get pregnant it can stretch and leave a huge hole. That can only be covered by plastic surgery. I know its a long way off but i like thinking in advance. My sisters are completely against it. Advice please ? (:

  1. I got mine pierced when I was fifteen and I have had no regrets! It looks amazing when your young and I loved showing it off on holiday. With regards to pregnancy, you can get a stretching belly bar that you wer when you're pregnant which keeps the hole open so you dont have to have it repierced. Now I'm 21 I still love it as much as ever - I think when the whole pregnancy thing becomes an issue for me though, I would rather just take it out. It is definately a young persons thing I wouldn't want to be a mum with a belly bar!!

  2. I THINK THEY ARE CUTE and when u get pregnant just take it out!! and then get it redone if u realy like it

  3. i'm pregnant. i took mine out actually before i found out. then when i started to stretch the holes stretched and started to look all red and scarred. i hope they go back down and i will get it re-pierced... IF my stomach eventually looks good. but then again, if your stomach never looks s**y after pregnancy, like it does at your age, then why not get it pierced now and enjoy it while your stomach looks great! then if you get that stomach back after kids... you can worry about the fixing the scar later...

    i duno.

  4. The belly-button piercing only looks good on young, slim girls - by the time you get pregnant you'll have outgrown it and you probably wouldn't wear it anymore.  If you have the figure for it then go for it!

  5. Being a tattoo artist/piercer, I personally think 15 is a bit too young.  I try not to tell people what to do and what not to do, because in the end it's there decision, but just from experience, I've encountered more regrets than long term satisfaction.  Please don't take it personally if this applies to you, but unless you're body is more on the slimmer side, some people don't see it as much of a turn on if thats your intention of getting it done.  It's your body though, and if it makes you feel happy with it then good for you.

Also, many people don't take the aftercare much into consideration before getting it done.  this includes avoiding swimming in the ocean, and I personally would advise to stay away from the pool as well for aleast 3 weeks.  Also, people fail to properly take care of the piercing, leading to infection and/or rejection.  This could easily leave perminant scars.

Most shops will pierce a 15 year old, but some have age restrictions, so I would try to call in advance to check there requirements before wasting an hour of your time only to possibly get turned away.

good luck with your decision, and don't be afraid to stop into the tattoo shop and ask questions.  It's better to be safe than sorry, and even though you may think the people find it annoying, they actually have a lot of respect for it.

  6. I like the idea of a belly button ring.  I think they are very cute, but it only looks good on skinny people.

  7. yeh the pircing stretches but not the holes too much if your dnt take it out but you can get pregnancy bars, and they heal up, no surgery needed

theyre great especially for someone who wants a piercing but nothing extreme, plus your sisters arent you, if you're parents agree to it you can get it, some places might do it if they think you're 16 without ID, if you're allowed go for it, piecings can be taken out, its not your sisters choices

  8. dont do it

  9. you buy special bars when you are pregnant to stop this, they are bigger and plastic.

so if that's you only concern, problem solved:-)

    go for it!

    good luck

  10. i gt mine dun at 14

i took it out at 16 and hav regretted it gettin it dun sooo much

  11. yeah you can get it

but when you expecting you take it out months before

and it closes in about 2 to 3 weeks

    so no worries.

and after you get a baby and you want it back again

you have to get it pierced again

  12. i had mine done 7 years ago and i love it, my stomach would look strange without it now!

it did take over a year to heal up properly ( i used to have problems changing the bar)  but it never got infected.

you can take it out when you get pregnant

  13. I had my belly button pierced 10 years ago just before i had my son and as soon as i started to get a little bump i took it out but i've heard now that you can get bars for when you are pregnant.

I never replaced the bar after i had my son and even now there is a small scar, nothing too bad but that may be down to the piercer who did a really good job, so it goes to show go to a reputable place to get it pierced.

  14. My best friend had hers done, she took it out when she was preggo. Not too much happened, but she does have a small stretch mark right around where the hole is. It is not too bad, but it is noticeable. I am about two months pregnant right now, and have had my belly ring out for six months or more. So far no stretching, but i can still see the hole very clearly. Guess I'll have to see if I'm as lucky as my friend.

  15. Why do you want to look so common?

And besides, what are piercings, etc?  'Body art' (to give it dignity) or just 'self-adornment' (fact).  Get a life.  And donate the money to charity.

  16. ive got both top en bottom ov mine done but i aint never been pregnant so couldnt tell you if it leaves a hole but if you were to take it out at start of our pregnacy it would heel en dont tink it would leave much of a scar but there look nice but wait until your allowed gives you longer to make your own decision up but if you really want it done go for it

  17. my 2 daughters had it done when they were 14/15, it takes longer than u think to heal or rather before it looks good, my daughters have olive skin and they thought they would have it done one day and next day it would look good sadly not, they both had marks from where they held the skin to do it and blisters from the freezing solution, obviously this may not happen to everyone and everyones skin is different as in how quick it heals but it took several months before it actually looked good.   now they are 22 and 19.  my elder daughter has had 3 babies in quite quick succession and each time her tummy starts expanding she takes it out. as its been done a long time shes able to put it back in after so its not really a problem, or as someone else said ucan get it redone   yr parents are wise to say wait till u are over the glandular fever and also wait till u can take a couple of days rest not having to wear tight jeans etc.   good luck.

  18. Don't get it, I like it unpierced :P

  19. Yeah people make things up about belly peircings, theres rumours sayin they only last 5 years before they grow out through ur skins bt ive had mine since i was 13 im 17 now. the only way it can stretch properly is putin on alot of weight or getin pregnant but the easist answers is to take it out lol

  20. don't have it done
