Belmont Stakes 2011- Mucho Macho Man will complete Triple Crown participation
With a career record of two wins, three seconds, and, three third place finishes, Mucho Macho Man makes his way to the final leg of the Triple Crown.
He along with Animal Kingdom and Shackleford are going to be the three horses that will have made their way to all the Triple Crown races.
The three year old bay colt races for owners Reeves Thoroughbred Racing and Dream Team Racing. He was third in the Kentucky Derby and sixth in the Preakness Stakes. Mucho Macho Man stands at 17 hands, which is tall, as compared to other horses of his age, so his long striding style comes as no surprise.
He was born on June 15th, 2009, and it is hoped that his third birthday brings a happy present in the form of a plausible win in the 143rd running of the Belmont Stakes.
Mucho Macho Man, who is known to many as Mucho, Macho, or, MMM, and M3, receives conditioning from Katherine Ritvo.
Ritvo spoke on his performance by saying “He went very good”. He was drilling after a renovation break for the Belmont Stakes and turned out to be the fastest among the 15 horses galloping”.
Ritvo, the South Floridian trainer, who received a heart transplant two and a half years ago, suffered from cardiomyopathy. She has allowed the colt to have some leeway in his training schedule.
Ritvo took into consideration the nature of the Belmont Track and said “I think he’s going to run well on this racetrack. It’s a great place to run. And I think the distance is going to suit him well. He’s the kind of horse who wants to keep going”. Belmont Track’s sandy dirt surface is a little pressing for newcomers.
Ramon Dominguez will be replacing jockey, Rajiv Maragh. Ramon Dominguez is the winner of the 2010 Eclipse Award and he recently got hold of six wins in a single day at the Belmont Park. He will be holding the reins for Mucho Macho Man for the first time.
Dominguez made the colt gallop 5 ½ furlongs and turned in splits of 12 seconds, 23 seconds and 35 seconds. The six furlongs were covered in 1 minute and 13 seconds.
Mucho Macho Man is  Ponche mare Ponche de Leona’s foal. He was bred by John and Carole Rio in Florida. Mucho Macho Man is sired by Mucho Uno. Mucho Uno is known for his performance over long distances, such as 1 1/8 miles.
MMM has been facing troubles related to shoe loss in earlier races but that matter has been looked after by Kathy Ritvo. She got him synthetic glue-on shoes.
