Question:

Belting...Wicked...Beauty and the Beast?

Sorry, another question about belting. Is belting appropriate/needed for songs like "Defying Gravity," "The Wizard and I," or "A Change in Me?" from Wicked and Beauty and the Beast? I'm trying to figure out if that's something I should be working on because those are shows I love and if I ever get the opportunity to audition for them I want to do the best possible job. Belle is one of my dream roles. Several versions of the song "A Change in Me" that I've listened to, it sounds as if the singers are belting at some point in the song. I want to be the best singer/actress that I can possibly be!

  1. I think that belting is essential for Defying Gravity and Wizard and I. All previous actresses have belted, maybe Ana Gasteyer used the least amount of belt.. but she still belted..A strong belt (to an E/F) is almost always required for contemporary Musical Theatre.

  2. This raises some questions... Namely: where did you get audio of the dropped songs like "A Change in Me?"
