Beltra Taffy gets the sweet taste of victory in A8 race at Hall Green
There are often times when a victory can taste as good as something that is truly delicious. Indeed, the sweet, delectable taste that comes with winning is one that is enjoyed by humans
and greyhounds alike.
A big win in the A8 race that began the 480m races at Hall Green Greyhound Stadium proved to be very sweet for Beltra Taffy (7-2). Starting from trap two, he ran a great race, and led
the run in to place first in 29.65. Singapore Tee, the 5-2 favourite of this race, held an early pace and challenged at the three-quarter mark. She would go on to take second place with a time of 29.81 that placed her two lengths behind Beltra Taffy.
Finding the way to third place was Witch Way Henry (3-1). He completed the race in 29.89, missing second place by a single length. A clear run for Blueberry Girl (3-1) was not enough to
finish in the top three. She checked in with a 30.09 finish that was 2 ½ lengths behind the third-place finisher.
Prodigy Eimear (5-1) crowded third en route to a fifth-place finish. He was 3 lengths out of the number four spot with a time of 30.33. Last place was claimed by Aoifes Way, the 10-1 long
shot. She finished the race in 30.67, which was 4¼ lengths behind Prodigy Eimear.
The A4 race that followed saw Supreme Hawk (3-1) fly over the competition to a strong finish in 29.12. His path to victory featured some crowding at the three-quarter mark, but he managed
to finish well. Second place went to Funcheon Silver, the 9-4 favourite. He missed the top spot by ¾ lengths, finishing in 29.18.
Piercestown Top (7-1) was forced to check first, but raced on to a third-place finish. His time of 29.22 was just a ½ length behind second place. Laying claim on the number four position
was Swift Sadie (5-1), who missed out on a top-three finish by ¾ lengths. Her finishing time was 29.28.
Emma Go Wild (5-1) crowded second and three-quarters, and finished fifth with a time of 29.48 that was 2½ lengths behind Swift Sadie. The sixth and final spot was taken by Montos Flash
(7-2). She led to the halfway point, but crowded at three-quarters. Despite the rough start, she lost only one length, finishing in 29.56.
Beltra Taffy’s victory in the A8 race was definitely a sweet one, but will she be able to repeat as champion? The next race set at Hall Green Greyhound Stadium may hold the answer. The
races are slated to begin at 19:25 on Friday evening.
