Ben Ainslie delighted after wining Finn class gold medal in 2012 London Olympic Games
Outstanding sailing skills from the Great Britain Finn class sailor, Ben Ainslie brought him on top of the fleet standings at the end of regatta proceedings and he was able to claim the gold medal with 46 points.
The British sailor proved his class in the 2012 London Olympic Games sailing competitions after he was nudged down to lower podiums in the beginning of the regatta.
Denmark’s Jonas Hogh-Christensen dominated the fleet from the beginning with some tremendous bullet finishes in the start of the Olympic regatta pushing Ainslie on the second place.
However, the Briton breezed back into the event with some classy sailing techniques and soon claimed equal points as the Danish sailor. Ainslie nudged him down in the medal race by two points and claimed the gold medal.
During his regatta voyage, Ainslie had only one goal in mind, to grab the golden glory and clinched a couple of bullet positions which brought him on top of the fleet in the final proceedings of the event. Ainslie was ecstatic after hitting the top podium.
He spoke to the local media, “The support out on the Nothe was amazing. We have never seen that in Olympic sailing so it was just fantastic. I can’t thank everyone enough who has helped me over the years to get to this point; my family, sponsors, the people
watching.”
