Ben Ainslie happy to regain his lead in 2012 Finn Gold Cup – Sailing News
After a superb sailing performance on the Falmouth waters, Great Britain’s Ben Ainslie was able to grab overall lead again at the end of the third day of 2012 Finn Gold Cup. Two races were scheduled for Day 3 and the Briton hit bullets in both to top the
overall standings.
To get to the top of the leader-board, Ainslie had to come up with instant strategies because he was having trouble with the heavy winds across the waters and he even capsized during the proceedings.
The weather conditions over the Falmouth waters were not suitable for a perfect sail as the breeze was cold and shifty blowing from 16 to 20 knots which was a real deal for the British sailor.
The breeze was a bit calm in the beginning of the proceedings but as the second race began, it turned into a gusty thunder which toppled the sailors.
Ainslie started slow in the second race of the day and was on third position when the shifty wind troubled him and his boat capsized. However, the British sailor got back into the game with some new tactics and finally was able to hit his second bullet.
Speaking to the local media, Ainslie said that he was in third place at the time which was his own mistake because he was not able to see the gust coming.
