Ben Ainslie of Great Britain satisfied with weather conditions: 2012 Finn Gold Cup
Fifth day of the 2012 Finn Gold Cup brought some of the most thrilling weather conditions where the fleet almost got punched by heavy winds but hats off to their tactical skills as they still managed to maintain their rout and finish the scheduled races
of the day.
Meanwhile, the regatta standings’ leader, Great Britain’s Ben Ainslie was quite happy with the wind conditions as he believes they helped him securing his top position.
Ainslie started the regatta with a second place finish in the standings but the second day was lucky for him because he was able to collect a bullet and a third finish to hit the leading podium.
After Day 2, Ainslie retained his good form and clinched five bullets to retain his top spot with 10 points, after sailing in nine races, including a discard. The British sailor believes the weather conditions were outstanding and quite helpful at times.
Speaking to the local media, Ainslie said that the fifth day of racing was quite big day, amazing conditions as there were massive waves. He thinks that fifth day sailing was amazing for everyone. He added that the event is important but really the main
focus this year is the Olympics coming up.
The Finn fleet will resume their sailing on Day six with the hope to make their way into the 2012 London Olympic Games.
