Newcastle United’s star Frenchmen http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hatem-Ben-Arfa-c15884 will return to the club on Monday after their extended summer holidays end.
Manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew will be happy to see the return of two of his most influential and important players and is hopeful that they will soon be joined by new faces at Tyneside.
Both players had been granted extra leave following France’s Euro 2012 exit and have not featured in the club’s pre-season tour of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904. Pardew has long been waiting the return of both players, who have both been instrumental in Newcastle’s success last
season.
Speaking of new faces, Pardew is hopeful that French full-back http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mathieu-Debuchy-c24682 will complete his move to the Magpies by the end of this month. Debuchy impressed in last month’s Euro 2012 and has emerged as Newcastle’s main priority this summer.
Debuchy is currently playing for French outfit Lille, who are well aware of the player’s desire to move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 but are unwilling to let him go without signing a suitable replacement before the transfer window shuts down.
United are also reportedly working on two other deals, with FC Twente’s Brazilian defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Douglas-c11600 and Liverpool’s English striker Andy Carroll on Pardew’s wish list for the summer. Newcastle may have hit a block in acquiring the latter, as Carroll is expected
to fly out for Liverpool’s tour of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034 in a few days.
Pardew himself admitted that he is keeping a ‘close eye’ on Carroll and waiting the situation out. Having already signed French midfielder Romain Amalfitano and youngster Gael Bigirimana from Reims and Coventry respectively, Pardew said:
“I’m hoping to add more senior players. We’re working hard on those at the moment. We will see what happens.”
Newcastle are currently on tour in Germany and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Austria-c2844. The team arrived in Vienna last night and will play Turkish club Fenerbahçe in Ritzing in their final game of the pre-season tour.
Pardew said:
“We’ll play a stronger team in that one. We are in really good shape physically. And the tour has gone really well so far.”
Newcastle start their Premier League campaign on the 18th of August at home to Tottenham Hotspur.
