Question:

Ben Cousins, will he make his hearing date?

Taking into account all of the things that have been going on in Ben Cousins life lately, I think he is on a path of self destruction.

I have an awful 'gut' feeling that this guy, now he has been let out on bail may not live long enough to make his court date.

I wonder how closely he will be watched by his family and friends to prevent him from taking his own life?

  1. i dont watch the footy but i have read all about mainwearing and cousins. i was shocked to see the news tonight about cousins as he seems to have alot going for him, its so sad i hope they overhaul the footy clubs and crack down on their partying ways.

i do think cousins is very volnerable right now and my thoughts go out to him and his family, he needs to take some time to sort himself out or sadly he may end up like mainwearing in the future :  (

  2. It's time to go Ben Cousins

  3. I said that to my wife, and she turned around and replied....."Kev don't be stupid...he won't kill himself idiot"

The  point, I was trying to make to  my wife, is that Ben is now at breaking point. He  would feel that the world is watching every single step he makes and the only way  to escape the hush reality of this cruel world, is to............well you know.

  4. I would hope not (suicide).  He has heaps to lose by that. They do say you have to hit your lowest ebb to bounce back from some illnesses but having seen a bit of drug abuse in my time, the bounce often isn't a high one.

You would hope that his club would try to look after him but honestly not much you can do if someone wants to go on a path to 'self-destruction' (hey? where have I seen that term lately?) ... here boy, here boy ... nice wabbit for ya

  5. Good point - to be honest I didn't think of that.

A lot of people make a lot of comments about how he "grinned" as he was led away by police and "smirked" when he left Aus to go to US for drug treatment - but instead of him being "arrogant", perhaps that is a defence mechanism?  Who knows?

I think once he sees how disappointed his family are, he will come crashing down and realise he's stuffed up again.  I am sure that they will be keeping a close eye on him though - especially after what happened with Chris Mainwaring.

Have you seen the comments left on the various "blogs" on the newspapers?  Whew - although Ben has some support, a lot of people are tearing into him.  It's gotta hurt him.
