Decision just in....Ben found guilty of bring the game into disrepute and has been suspended from playing for 12mths.

He will be eligible to go into the '08 draft an play in '09.

He can only go into the draft if he can prove his fitness and health is ok.

Thoughts???

  1. Even if he wasn't found guilty, there was a good chance that he wouldn't play this year anyway because he hasn't found a team and hasn't had mid-season training. He got off easy if you ask me.

And about the being fit enough thing... if he keeps that scrumptous body I think he'll be just fine, lol.

  2. He will be fine!!!!

A year off will do him good and he will be up and running in 2009. (for the Kangaroos hopefully).

    Good Luck Ben!!!

  3. I think it's an excellent balanced decision.

Of course he's guilty of the disrepute thing but hopefully he will see that he hasn't been thrown on the scrap heap.  Hopefully he will now take things seriously and confront whatever he needs to confront - which sounds very much like a deep and serious problem.

Hopefully he'll turn up clean and then join the Cats and win a Norm Smith in our back-to-back-to-back year ...

OK ... most of that's wishful thinking perhaps but you figure which bits!

  4. It's Martina Hingis all over again, drugs are found in her system but no way she's guilty. Same with Ben, drugs were found in his system but no way she's guilty.

  5. Id say suspend him for life cos his actions arent desirable to young fans/kids, however perhaps IF he can get clean and stay clean that would be good for them to see that he could overcome and deter them.

  6. What you reap, is what you sow.

Ben Cousins wasted a fantastic opportunity to set himself up for life.  But he chose to go on Cocaine benders and do runners from booze buses.

Many other young men playing NRL, AFL and Super 14 do not follow Cousin's or Andrew Johns stupidity.

So making an example of him, is the right decision.

  7. If he gets back to full fitness and and over the addictions, he would be a good pick up for any team.

I think you'll find the rules and stipulations on him returning will be very strict. It's time for him to rehab and focus on his own life.

I wish him all the best and hopefully now, he's life wont be slurred everywhere. The decision's been made now it's up to him.

  8. sorry,,, since me and my hubby arnt reaL HUGE  footy fans, we say,,,, ''good, haha'', lol xxxxxxxxx serves him right

  9. Thoughts?

Unfortunately Rogue, I fear that Ben won't make it to the 2009 draft.

He is showing all of the signs of a huge downward spiral, I said this months ago when the truth came out about Bens problem that he may not live long enough to play again, he did play very briefly, but I still think this gorgeous young man will be found dead from an overdose.

Sounds Morbid but these are my thoughts rogue :((((

  10. I would love to see Cousins playing again because he is a terrific player and its great fun to watch him, however he deserves what he got, youve got to be an idiot to think that you can do whatever you like and not get punished.

I say if Cousins can clean up his act Id love to see him in 2009

  11. I think we should leave him alone to get his life back on track.

  12. yes. he got what he deserved. he is a fantastic player... but as a role model for kids... he has "blown" it..

hopefullyhe can get his  sh*t together and come back   and  star  for the dockers  or hawks....

  13. I agree with Molly, let's give him a break and see if he can come back to AFL, that's if he still has the desire to.
