Ben Crane and Rickie Fowler fuelled Bubba Watson’s victory at the Masters
Bubba Watson might have been alone on the green facing his formidable foe, the South African Louis Oosthuizen, but he had all the support from behind the ropes as the dancing duo of “Golf Boys”, Ben Crane and Rickie Fowler were all out to support Watson
in his stiff battle.
Watson, Crane, Fowler along with Jim Furyk are part of the first of its kind PGA Tour band, “The Golf Boys” which released its video, the “Oh Oh Oh” last year.
The four trailblazing players on the PGA are close friends and while Furyk was not present to cheer for Watson, Fowler and Crane left no stone unturned to support their friend at the Playoff holes at Augusta National.
Crane said, "We knew that Angie was at home, she wasn't able to come out because of the situation with their baby, and so we just wanted to go out and support our friend, who we love. We were so excited for Bubba, and we thought, ‘gosh, we've got to go”.
Watson’s swirling approach shot on the second Playoff stunned Crane and Fowler as the duo froze in their feet to watch the miraculous shot that spun and stopped a mere few feet from the hole.
Crane added, "And then all of a sudden people started clapping. I'm like, ‘what?’ I look up, and I see the ball, like, ‘oh, my gosh.’ Obviously, it will be one of the greatest shots of our era to be hit. Just an incredible shot".
Watson was not accompanied by his wife Angie as she had to take care of their newly adopted son Caleb back in Bagdad, Florida.
Watson broke into tears as he sank the second playoff for a par and was embraced by his caddie and mother amid the snapping plethora of photographers and fans.
Watson came close to winning the 2010 PGA Championship when he lost the Playoff to Martin Kaymer of Germany.
He played stunning golf throughout 2011, pulling in several strong finishes and wins and finally landed his first major title at the start of this month.
The 33-year-old American will be playing at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans this week to defend his title he won last year.
