Ben Cross of Wigan Warriors recovers from arm injury to be part of Super League play-off
Ben Cross of Wigan Warriors will make his come back to the franchise in the Super League qualifying play-off against St. Helens on Sunday, September 18.
Cross was taken onboard to a short-term contract in July but his prospects with Wigans died down for the rest of the season with a arm injury on August 14, in a clash against Salford Reds.
Cross’ has recovered sooner than was expected, which has led to his uptake by Michael Maguire, the head coach of Warriors, to include him in the 19-man squad which will battle against the Saints on Sunday.
Cross was also not part of the Challenge Cup final, against the Rhinos Leeds in Wembley Stadium. The player’s passion about the game is evident from the fact that Cross started training with his team just two weeks after his plaster got removed.
Maguire has also taken in two more players. This includes, Andy Coley and Lee Mossop. The other changes in the Wigan’s line-up for Sunday’s clash are the dropping out of Chris Tuson and Eamon O’Carroll. The duo was part of the outfit that had beaten Crusaders
in the final showdown of the regular season.
Maguire has announced the final squad, which includes the following players; S. Tomkins, Goulding, Carmont, Richards, Deacon, Leuluai, McIlorum, Coley, Hansen, J. Tomkins, O'Loughlin, Prescott, Lima, Hoffman, Finch, Mossop, Farrell, Charnley, Cross.
Tomkins of Wigans is hoping to beat Saints tomorrow, because he does not wish history to repeat for Wigans, because this way their schedule leading up to the semi-final berth will become too hectic.
Saints’ 19-man line-up has harnessed the services of Tony Puletua, Sia Soliola, Jamie Foster and James Roby. All of the recent uptakes missed out on the on Saints’ win against over the Harlequins, scheduled on last Saturday.
Leon Pryce of Saints will sit outside the clash at DW Stadium because of his injured leg.
Saints’ squad includes; Wellens, Shenton, Soliola, Meli, Roby, Graham, Puletua, Wilkin, Moore, McCarthy-Scarsbrook, Clough, Ashurst, Dixon, Lomax, Foster, Armstrong, Gaskell, Makinson and Hale.
