Ben Grenda wins the fifth stage of the Tour of Tasmania 2012
After having a quite season, Ben Grenda of Team Polygon Australia has broken the silence with an astonishing victory during the fifth stage of the Tour of Tasmania.
The cyclist rode exceptionally well and bagged the relatively shorter stage of the race after launching his attack in the final kilometres.
He completed the 36 kilometre race at the Ulverstone in a total time of 47 minute and 51 seconds and restricted the in-form Anthony Giacoppo of Team Genesys Wealth Advisers Professional Cycling for the second position.
Scott Law of Team Search2Reach finished third with Roman Van Uden of Team PureBlack Racing and Malcolm Rudolph of Team Drapac Professional Cycling claiming the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Lachlan Norris of Team Drapac Professional Cycling, Joshua Taylor of Team GPM-Wilson Racing, Ben Grenda of Team Polygon Australian and Daniel Barry of Team Felt NZ were the top four Goodstone Group Most Agressive rider’s on the day.
Lachlan Norris leads the King of Mountain Championships with a total number of 25 UCI points to his credit while Mark O’Brien, Nathan Earle, Roman Van Uden and Matthew Clark at the second, third, fourth and the fifth positions respectively.
Daniel Barry, Neil Van Der Ploeg, Luke Ockerby, Joshua Taylor and Caleb Jones achieved the top five Sprint Championship spots with 27, 25, 20, 18 and 11 points respectively.
Lachlan Norris of Team Drapac Professional Cycling continued his overall lead after the final general classifications and is now ideally placed to claim an overall victory at the race.
He is leading the category with a total lead of 9 seconds over Mark O’Brien of Team Budget Forklifts while Nathan Earle of Team Genesys Wealth Advisers holding the third spot.
