Ben Guidugli ruled out of Saturday’s game for Cincinnati
The Cincinnati Bearcats' offence took another hit on Wednesday when tight-end Ben Guidugli was ruled out of Saturday’s match-up against #8 Oklahoma. The youngster was injured during last week’s loss to North Carolina State and will not be available this
weekend. It is uncertain as to whether or not the senior will be healthy enough to participate in week five.
Guidugli is one of the club's top receivers and one of the most highly touted tight-ends in college football. The loss of such a key component of the Bearcats' offence will certainly affect their game plan going into Saturday. Adrien Robinson is expected
to step in for Guidugli on several plays, but head coach Butch Jones says they will be changing up their formations and going with varied personnel throughout next week’s game.
The Bearcats' offence has been ravaged by injury, which began in their first game against Fresno State when the side lost their number one receiver Vidal Hazelton. Hazelton went down with a torn knee ligament and is expected to be out of the line-up for
some time.
Nevertheless, Cincinnati may be getting some relief in the form of running back Isaiah Pead who is likely to be back in the line-up after he too suffered an injury. Pead was knocked out of the club’s second week game against Indiana State with a sprained
knee. The junior was able to get in the game against North Carolina State, but looks to be ready to start on Saturday.
Jones is hoping that the introduction of the starting running back will help to take the pressure off quarterback Zach Collaros. Collaros has been forced to run the ball more than usual without Pead in the line-up and will have limited targets with Hazelton
and Guidugli now out.
Nevertheless, the Bearcats will have to put on an incredible performance if they hope to defeat Oklahoma at home.
