Ben Harrison impressed by John Higgins’ performance at the Pink Ribbon Charity Pro Am – Snooker news
The 19-year-old Ben Harrison has been mesmerised by the four-time world snooker champion, John Higgins.
Harrison, a Hawke ridge snooker rookie, met the world number two John Higgins in the last 64 best-of-seven frames match last week at the Pink Ribbon Charity Pro Am, which was held at the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester.
It was a scintillating battle between both players. However, in the end there was no surprise, as it was the heavy favourite for the match, Higgins, who came on top and sealed a 4-2 win.
Harrison took the first frame before he lost the next three on the trot. Though he managed in winning the fifth, Higgins killed the match in the sixth frame.
Harrison recently told the media that it was an unbelievable moment for him. He said he tried his best to overcome the champion, but he could not do so.
While speaking on his inclusion, he remarked, “It was brilliant and I couldn’t believe it when I saw the draw and that I had to play John Higgins. It was in the big arena in front of quite a few people and his safety shots were just amazing. I tried my best
to keep my cool and told myself not to be in awe of him.”
Harrison said he could not believe that he won the first frame and when he managed to win the second with Higgins 3-1 in the lead. He said at that point, he believed he could win the match but Higgins proved too good for him.
Harrison, who has now found a new sponsor in the Players Club in Westbury, was especially delighted on receiving praise from the Wizard of Wishaw, Higgins. He told Higgins was probably one of the most humble personalities he has ever met.
Harrison stated, “After the fight he was really friendly and he told me that I could go far – to hear that from someone like that was just amazing and he’s probably one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met.”
