Ben Henderson: I am not arrogant just confident to take on any lightweight in UFC – UFC news
Ben Henderson, the current Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight champion, recently shared his thoughts and said that he is not an arrogant brat who, since has become the champion, is moving here and there boasting about his win with pride all
over himself adding that he just has one ambition in mind to become the greatest unbeatable belligerent at 155-pound division.
Ben entered the octagon in UFC 144 to fight the former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and after a brutal slugfest, came out victorious with the title glittering round his waist.
Since then, Ben has put forth comments that though are humble in his view point yet are considered by most as a jabbering of an arrogant man. It was this reason why Ben came to the media to explain his position and reiterate his life’s ambition.
During the interview, Ben specifically said that he has not become an insolent guy after becoming the champion adding that all such buzz is absurd. Henderson, also known as the ‘Smooth’, commented that he has from the very beginning always shared his dream
of being the best fighter and the man who has nailed all the potential men in the 155-pound division.
Ben continued and added that he is a confident fighter who is not afraid of any kind of competition and is ready to take on any man whether its Bernard Hopkins or Joe Louis, he is all fit to accept any kind of challenge.
The submission specialist, during the interview, shared his sheer determination of nailing all the men in the lightweight division and added that it is not just now that he has been inviting the whole roster for a bout. Ben clarified and said that he has
been doing so from the inception of his career in UFC.
Ben commented, “I definitely don’t want to get too far ahead of myself. People seem to think that I’m arrogant or cocky, and I don’t want to come across like that. I’ve said it from the very beginning that I want to be the best fighter and I want to fight
and beat everybody.”
Henderson, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) lightweight champion continued and said, “I want to fight everybody on the roster at 155, I want to beat ‘em all, and I want to have a nice long reign at 155. I’ll do a Bernard Hopkins or Joe Louis.
I want to make 155 my weight class and I want my name to be synonymous with it. I think that would be something special.”
Ben has been in a total 18 mixed martial art bouts and came out victorious in 16. He has nailed eight men by submission, two by knockout and six by decision.
