Ben Henderson: I just want to win no matter how many times I take on Frankie Edgar – UFC news
Ben Henderson, the current UFC lightweight champion, in a media interaction, commented that he enjoyed brawling against Frankie Edgar in UFC 144 and will aid Frankie in invoking his rematch clause adding that he just wants to come out victorious against
Edgar no matter how many times he enters the ring.
Ben and Frankie are scheduled to take on each other in a five-round bout which will headline UFC’s 150 pay-per-view. The duo will meet at the Pepsi Center situated in Denver, United States and will collide with each other on August 11, 2012.
The showdown will be co-headlined by the non-title clash between Dennis Hallman and Thiago Tavares. Ben and Frankie have built themselves an interesting scenario and every now and then are a part of one tiding or another.
During the recent media appearance, Ben commented that he is ready to give Frankie a rematch adding that he vows to enter the ring 10 times against the former champion and just wants to come out victorious in all those attempts.
When asked as to what he thinks of Frankie demanding an immediate rematch after the loss, the ‘Smooth Bendo’ simply remarked that this is his right to do so adding that if he thinks that the bout was a close one then his own urge to give Frankie another
chance at the title will increase manifold.
It must be reminded that after the bout Frankie’s squad and even UFC President Dana White was pretty confident that Edgar has retained his title as he has done enough.
But the judges score card result stunned both and it is this reason why most probably Frankie has been awarded a rematch. Ben, on the other hand, did not place that much attention to the above mentioned scenario and just stated that Edgar himself has given
two rematches in his last five bouts therefore there is no problem for him in doing so.
Ben stated, “I think a part of that is Dana White being the big boss man and head honcho, scored the fight another way. He felt that fight warranted an immediate rematch, which is fine by me. It was a fun fight for me. I had a good time in there.”
Henderson further added, “We can run it back 10 times, but 10 times out of 10 times, I intend on having the same outcome, if not ending the fight earlier. Frankie did it twice. He said, 'Yeah, that's fine. Let's do it. It was a close decision, so let's run
it back.' He showed what he has inside, by agreeing to that.”
The current UFC lightweight champion reiterated that he just wants to show that he also has the guts to give rematches just like Frankie. The fight card is still under consideration and more bouts will be added with the passage of time.
